Preamble to Quiver full of Arrows
Hello fellow citizens, friends
In the 76th year of
our Republic, I have created my blog “quiver full of arrows” in a humble
attempt to reach out to everyone through social media on a wider platform. Up
until now I was not an avid fan of social media, but one has to adapt to the
needs of the hour. The blog is also an endeavour to reach out with my work to a
larger circle.
As an average citizen, I will write about my interactions with the
various government authorities at different levels and their replies or
silence. Also my personal views on the political scenario, the administrative
& enforcement agencies, findings / analysis on information received through
applications under RTI Act 2005, etc.
My journey on becoming more empowered as a citizen started 30 years ago
with dharnas, andolans, agitations, etc. My methods have evolved over time. At
that time, *activists* were construed in a negative way and were perceived as
trouble makers. Not much has changed and today we are labelled as
anti-development !!! Call it what you may, political environment through the
ages has needed a counter-balance to all that is going wrong in our world
today. This is my attempt to share my miniscule part in this ever evolving
world.
I was fortunate to have the best mentors of my time, stalwarts who
groomed, nudged and guided me throughout my journey.
Breaking ground to my activist foray was (late) Mrs. Gita Vir, who was
President of National Society for Clean Cities who started me up by saying that
I must take on issues that move my heart. Then came (late) Mr. Prakash
Kardaley, who was Resident Editor of Pune’s Indian Express and taught me to proceed
depending on hard core knowledge. Finally it is Maj. Gen. SCN Jatar (Retd) who
has taught me that to ignite activism, it takes a fine balance between
knowledge & passion.
Needless to state my late parents and my family values have remained at
the root of grounding me deeply on keeping focus on remaining on the straight
path by stating the truth without fear.
I will not be posting on a daily basis, only when I have something to
share with you fellow citizens on my on-going journey.
I do hope you read my posts. And if you like them, share with your
circle in order to spread the information.
Thank you. Jai Hind.

Nice to know your views on paper. You have expressed them very well. And importantly, grateful for the kind words which I frankly don’t deserve.
ReplyDeleteGeneral. You have indeed been a low profile warrior. I have seen you waiting very patiently in PMC Addl Commr Rajurkar Office, when he did not turn for your RTI hearing at 1.30 You waited patiently for hours and when your wife called I heard you saying you will not come for lunch, and will finish the hearing a then come.
ReplyDeleteI saw your patience at a very old age, which no one would bear it and your for giving up the lunch.
I still remember that incident and shared with many and I salute . May God bless you with good health and long life.
Very good of you. These are the few moments that spur me on make life at 91 worth living.
DeleteGlad to read your first post, and will be happier to join forces with you to strengthen the secular—democratic values in India. A little about us:
ReplyDeleteWhile we respect people's right to adopt a religion, we are people who have gone beyond religion, as well as beyond the lifestyles which are not apparently religious, but emulate religions. These may include even atheist organizations.
For instance, we don't worship any hero. We believe that regardless of popularity each one of us is a hero under their own circumstances and opportunities. People need not be compared.
And since all Indians, all genders are equal, we address each other by first names without salutations like "Mr", "Mrs", "Sir", "Madam", et al.
That's little about our culture. More, when and if we interact.
